Stob Coir' an Albannaich
Stob Coir' an Albannaich (1044m) — "peak of the corrie of the Scotsman" — is the northern Munro of the upper Glen Etive four, sitting between Ben Starav to the south-west and Glas Bheinn Mhòr to the south. The hill has a distinctive flat-topped summit cairn perched above huge, broken granite slabs falling to Coire Glas. Most parties tackle it as part of a four-Munro Glen Etive round including Glas Bheinn Mhòr and Meall nan Eun, or as a pair with Glas Bheinn Mhòr.

Standard route
Glen road start 20% · Open hillside 45% · Rocky summit 35%
Park near the bridge at Coileitir towards the head of Loch Etive. Cross over the river by the footbridge then follow the Allt Mheuran stalkers' path north-east into Glen Ceitlein. Branch left out of the glen and climb the south-west ridge of Stob Coir' an Albannaich — a long sustained pull on grass and broken rock. From the summit, drop south-east to a deep bealach and climb Meall nan Eun, then return via Glen Ceitlein. Around 17km with 1300m of ascent for the pair.
Terrain
The footbridge over the river is sound; the boggy flats beyond can be wet. The Allt Mheuran path is faint stalkers' track; the climb up the south-west ridge follows a rough line through grass and broken granite slabs. The summit area is a small flat plateau with the distinctive flat-topped cairn. The descent eastward to the bealach for Meall nan Eun is steep grass with one rocky step. Glen Ceitlein return is wet underfoot.
In winter
A serious Glen Etive winter day. The granite slabs on the south-west ridge glaze quickly and offer little hold; the corrie slopes north of the summit hold avalanche-prone snow after westerly storms. The bealach to Meall nan Eun is exposed and drifts deeply. The single-track Glen Etive road can drift closed. Phone signal absent throughout the glen. SAIS Glencoe applies.
