Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

OutdoorSCOT (“we”, “our”) respects your privacy and complies with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

  • Newsletter signups. We store your email address and the page you signed up from in our Supabase database. Used only to send the OutdoorSCOT newsletter.
  • Hill tracker accounts. If you create a free account to use the hill tracker, we store your email and your hill completion records.
  • Analytics. We use Vercel Analytics to understand which pages are popular. It collects anonymised information about your visit (page viewed, country, device type). We do not sell this data and we do not run advertising trackers.
  • Cookies. We use functional cookies only — for login sessions and your analytics opt-out preference. We do not run advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use your data

  • To deliver the newsletter you signed up for.
  • To save your hill tracker progress between visits.
  • To improve the site based on aggregate analytics.

We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.

Affiliate links

OutdoorSCOT contains affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, the retailer may share commission with us. The retailer's own cookies and tracking apply once you leave OutdoorSCOT — we have no control over those.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have it corrected if inaccurate
  • Have it deleted (right to erasure)
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@outdoorscot.co.uk.

Data retention

Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Hill tracker data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile.
