Stob a' Choire Odhair
Stob a' Choire Odhair (945m) — "peak of the dun-coloured corrie" — is a Black Mount Munro on the south-east edge of Rannoch Moor, paired with the higher Stob Ghabhar to its west across the deep Coire Toaig. The hill is the smaller and lower of the pair but gives commanding views east across the great expanse of Rannoch Moor — one of the great Highland panoramas. The two-Munro round from Victoria Bridge is a popular Black Mount day.

Standard route
Victoria Bridge track 25% · Open hillside 45% · Summit 30%
Park at the small lay-by at Forest Lodge near Victoria Bridge on the A82, just south of Bridge of Orchy. Walk north on the West Highland Way briefly, then turn west on the Allt Toaig path. From Coire Toaig, climb the steep east shoulder of Stob a' Choire Odhair directly to the summit. Most parties continue west to Stob Ghabhar via the Aonach Eagach (Black Mount) connecting ridge. Around 18km with 1300m of ascent for the pair.
Terrain
The Allt Toaig path is firm well-built track for the lower section. The east shoulder of Stob a' Choire Odhair gives sustained climbing through heather and grass with rocky bands; a small cairn marks the summit on a flat top. The link to Stob Ghabhar — sometimes called the "Aonach Eagach of the Black Mount" — is broad with one rocky scrambly step.
In winter
A serious Black Mount winter day. The Coire Toaig headwall holds wind-loaded snow after westerly storms; the connecting ridge to Stob Ghabhar develops cornicing on its north side. The A82 corridor at Victoria Bridge stays gritted. SAIS Glencoe applies. Phone signal absent above 700m.
