The hill rises above the head of Loch Shiel and is one of the so-called "Rough Bounds outliers", connected to the great wilderness of Knoydart by long undulating ridges further west.

Terrain

The connecting ridge between Sgùrr Thuilm and Sgùrr nan Coireachan is long undulating mossy turf with several false summits — slow underfoot. The Sgùrr nan Coireachan summit area is a small rocky outcrop with a cairn. The south ridge descent towards Corryhully is sustained heathery hillside. The whole circuit involves significant re-ascent on the connecting ridge — pace carefully.
