Our take
The Schoolhouse is the Assynt bothy for people who like comfort. Former schoolhouse, so it has actual space. Suilven is visible from the door. And the Lochinver pie shop is an hour's walk away. The long track in is bike-able, which takes most of the sting out of the eleven kilometres.
Getting there
From Oykel Bridge on the A837, a long track up Strath Mulzie — around 11km, bike-able for much of the way — leads to the bothy at Duag Bridge.
