Standard route
volcanic basalt 45% · heather moorland 35% · grass slopes 20%
From the Craigmead car park follow the well-graded track east through the heather to the steep summit cone, gaining the trig and indicator at the top. Continue down the south flank into Falkland village for a one-way option using a second car.
Terrain
Compacted estate path the whole way to the summit cone, with stepped sections on the final pull. Slabs and pitched stonework underfoot to control erosion.
In winter
Snow on the cone can make the final pitched steps icy and awkward. Microspikes recommended in freezing weather; otherwise an excellent short winter outing with views over a frozen Loch Leven.
