Standard route
heather moorland 55% · rocky slopes 30% · grass slopes 15%
From the road end at Bracorina on Loch Morar, take the lochside path east and break off uphill onto open heather. Trackless slog up rough Lewisian gneiss ground to a small cairn with sweeping views of the loch and the Rough Bounds. About 4 hours.
Terrain
Loch Morar shore is woodland and bracken; once onto the hillside expect open knobbly gneiss country with bog hollows. The combination is slow walking but the rock gives good grip in the dry.
In winter
A west-coast 548m hill that holds little snow most winters. The lochside path can flood; spikes for icy boardwalks in cold spells. The summit gets full force of any Atlantic gale — turn back early if the loch shows white water.
