Our take
If you're doing one Scottish trail centre in your life, make it this one. The progression from green Buzzards Nest through Blue Crosses to the full Red is probably the best introduction to UK trail centre riding anywhere. The skills loop has features laid out like a driving-test, which sounds naff but is actually the fastest way to get a beginner confident on rocks and drops.
Insider tips
Sundays are busy year-round — come midweek or hit the Red before 10am. The Janet's Brae descent is the best single section in the trail centre. The Spooky Wood drop (black) is the famous one but the Red's twisty rock work is more fun.
Accommodation
Peebles (5 min) has hotels and B&Bs. Camping at Rosetta Holiday Park nearby.
Food
The Hub on site is decent. Coltman the butcher in Peebles does excellent pies for the ride.
When to ride
Pair with
