Our take

Ae is where riders from Glasgow and the central belt go when they want something harder than Glentress but closer than Innerleithen. The red has long climbs and real technical payback. The DH track is short but delivers.

Insider tips

The Omega Man feature on the red is the signature move. The descent into the final car park is the best return leg of any 7stanes.

Accommodation

Dumfries is a 15-minute drive. Bunkhouse options in Moniaive.

Food

Cafe on-site at the trail centre; nothing exciting but hot food.

When to ride

Pair with

Dumfries Pair

Both close to Dumfries and rideable in a long weekend. Ae's red is the tougher of the two; Mabie's blue is the friendliest in Dumfries & Galloway.
