Our take
Small, quiet, and home to The Slabs — a long run of exposed granite bedrock that has to be ridden to be believed. Come for The Slabs, stay for the rest of the red which is a surprisingly good natural route.
Insider tips
The Slabs are committing but all-rollable for competent riders — just pick your line. The red gets rained off badly.

Dalbeattie itself has accommodation. Kippford and Rockcliffe for coastal options.
Food
No cafe on site. Dalbeattie (5 min drive) has pubs and takeaways.
When to ride
Pair with
Dalbeattie for the famous granite Slab and flowing red, Kirroughtree for technical rock work. Two contrasting Galloway centres a 45-minute drive apart.
Two friendly Galloway centres for a relaxed weekend. Dalbeattie has the Slab, Mabie has the better cafe. Easy 30-min drive between.
