Park at Sheriffmuir or the university car park and pick up the well-worn path climbing the south-west ridge through gorse and broom. The final pull onto the rocky knoll passes Iron Age ramparts before reaching the summit indicator.
Terrain
Eroded earth and rock path with pitched stone steps on the busier lower section. Final summit hummock is dolerite scrambling on bare rock and short grass.
In winter
Sheltered approach from Sheriffmuir but the summit knoll catches westerly gales straight off the Forth. Verglas on the rocky top is common after rain freezes; watch the steep west face.
