Our take
Resourie is deep Sutherland — a place where the quartzite mountains look like they belong on another planet and the emptiness is total. Foinaven from the bothy door is one of the great Scottish mountain views. The walk in weeds out casual visitors. If you like company, go elsewhere.
Getting there
From Achfary on the A838, follow the track east along the south shore of Loch More. The path is reasonable but remote. Allow 2.5 hours. No phone signal for the entire approach.

Stalking season / estate access
Red deer stag stalking generally runs from mid-August to 20 October; check locally (e.g. the managing estate or Heading for the Scottish Hills) before visiting in season.
What to expect inside
Small MBA bothy with a fireplace and space for 4. Fair condition. The remoteness means it is rarely busy. The setting between two major lochs with Sutherland's quartzite peaks rising on all sides is dramatic.

When to visit
Best May–September. The approach is exposed to weather and the terrain is rough. Deer stalking in Reay Forest requires estate consultation. Winter access is possible but challenging.
Wildfire risk — May to October
Dry conditions increase wildfire risk during summer. Never light fires in the open. Use the bothy fireplace only, and ensure it is fully out before you leave.
