A substantial Fife town with a long promenade — the Lang Toun — and by a distance the best-equipped stop on the path. Not scenic in the East Neuk sense, and useful precisely because it is not: shops, trains and beds without a booking fight.

Hotels and B&Bs. Enough of both that this is one of the few stops where being full is unlikely.
How far ahead to book
Weeks. The town has business and commuter demand rather than tourist demand, so summer barely moves it.
When it is full
Burntisland is 10km back and Leven ahead. Realistically this one does not fill.
Getting there, and getting out
A main-line station with fast trains to Edinburgh and Dundee. The best transport point on the western half.
Camping
Access code applies; the promenade is urban and the ground beyond it is farmland. Not a wild-camping stretch.
Food and resupply
Full shops — the route record singles it out for resupply, and it is the best on the path.
