A working Fife town with a long sand beach and a station, rather than a picture-postcard village. Less pretty than its neighbours and much easier to get a bed in, which on a coastal path in July matters more.
Not a stage end. Used by anyone who finds Aberdour full, and by anyone splitting the first two stages differently.

How far ahead to book
Weeks rather than months. One of the easier bookings on the route.
When it is full
Kirkcaldy is 10km on and larger again. This stretch of coast has the best fallback options anywhere on the path.
Getting there, and getting out
On the Fife Circle line, frequent trains to Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy.
Camping
Access code applies, but the coast here is town and golf links. Walk inland or on for a pitch.
