A commuter village with two beaches, a castle and a railway station, close enough to Edinburgh that it fills up at weekends with people who have not walked from Kincardine. Silver Sands is the reason most day visitors come.

What is actually in Aberdour
B&Bs and the Cedar Inn. A small supply in a village whose visitors mostly go home the same day.
How far ahead to book
A month or two outside July and August. Weekends are tighter than weekdays here, which is unusual on this route.
When it is full
Burntisland is a short walk on and has more beds. Edinburgh is 30 minutes by train, which on this route is a genuine option rather than a defeat.
Getting there, and getting out
On the Fife Circle line with a frequent service to Edinburgh. The whole western half of this path is unusually easy to leave.
Camping
No permit zones anywhere on the Fife Coastal Path — access code camping applies throughout. In practice the western coast is enclosed and built up, so a legal pitch is much harder to find than the rules suggest.

Shops and pubs. Adequate for a resupply.
