The most photographed harbour in Fife, at the point where the coast turns north for St Andrews. Small, old and busy in summer, with an accommodation stock aimed squarely at people who came here on purpose rather than walked in.
Not a stage end, and the obvious way to break the 24km Anstruther to St Andrews stage into two easy days.

B&Bs, small hotels and a substantial amount of self-catering.
How far ahead to book
Four to six months in high season. Self-catering minimum stays are the real constraint here — a single night in August is harder to find than a week.
When it is full
Anstruther is 7km back with more beds. St Andrews is 17km on and has the most of anywhere on the route.
Getting there, and getting out
No railway. Coast-road buses to Anstruther and St Andrews.
Camping
Access code applies; enclosed farmland and cliff path either side.
Food and resupply
Shops and pubs. Adequate before the final push to St Andrews.
