A short, accessible walk through the Galloway Forest Park or open moorland to the 249m summit. The low altitude and gentle gradients make this achievable in 1-3 hours.

Mixed terrain through forest and over open moor. The granite geology gives good drainage on the higher ground.

Gentle winter conditions in Galloway. The southwestern position means warmer temperatures than the Highlands. Good paths remain usable year-round.
