Standard route
heather and bog 65% · grass slopes 25% · rocky summit 10%
Approach via the long estate track from the B840 along Loch Avich, or from the south near Loch Tralaig, leaving the track to climb pathless heather to the cairn. Expect a 5 to 6 hour return on either line.
Terrain
Long stretches of estate track give straightforward going, but the final ascent crosses extensive bog, tussocky heather and small lochans that force diversions.
In winter
A long, exposed day in poor weather. Burns can flood in winter rain and bog freezes unpredictably. Best left for shorter spring days or settled autumn weather.
