Black Craig
Black Craig rises to 522m above Loch Striven on the Cowal peninsula. Its dark cliffs face the loch, while the rounded west side offers walkers an easier line through forestry to the trig pillar.

heather moorland 60% · rocky slopes 25% · grass slopes 15%
Track-and-firebreak ascents from the road near Glenstriven gain the open ridge for a final push to the trig. Around four hours for the round trip.
Terrain
Long sections of forest road and felled ground precede grassy upper slopes. Boggy hags lurk on the summit plateau.
In winter
Light snow can blanket the top but it rarely persists. The forest tracks ice up readily — micro-spikes worth carrying.
