Standard route

A steady ascent with views to the Cuillin Ridge from the approach slopes to the 561m summit. The walking is straightforward with clear views opening up as you gain height. Allow 2-4 hours.

Terrain

Exposed island hillside with volcanic rock and thick heather. Wind and rain are more frequent than on the mainland.

In winter

Skye winters are wet and windy rather than deeply snowy. Ice forms on steep ground after rain. The volcanic rock becomes treacherous when wet-frozen.
