Standard route
blanket bog 45% · Lewisian gneiss 35% · rocky summit 20%
Tackled from the Loch Aineort road end, the route climbs steeply through rocky terraces onto the connecting ridge with Beinn Mhor. Combine all three eastern Uist summits in a long day, or single it out by retreating after the col.
Terrain
Steep grass shelves broken by gneiss bands, with crags falling east into Coire Hellisdale. Stick to the western flank to avoid the cliffs in poor visibility.
In winter
Higher than most Uist hills, so it can hold transient snow in February. The east-facing crags are best avoided in any winter conditions; pick a settled day and approach from the west.
