Our take

Queen Elizabeth Forest Park is a big forest with marked loops at multiple trailheads rather than a single purpose-built trail centre. The trails are a mix of forest road, light singletrack and a handful of proper reds. Family-friendly at the Aberfoyle end, quieter and more challenging deeper in. The Trossachs setting is genuinely beautiful — no tourism-board adjectives needed.

Insider tips

Park at the Lodge for facilities and the easy loops. Park at Loch Ard for quieter red riding. The Three Lochs Forest Drive makes a good warm-up spin.

Accommodation

Aberfoyle, Callander or Stirling for accommodation.

Food

The Lodge cafe is decent. Aberfoyle village has multiple options.
