Troweir Hill

A 295m heather Marilyn at NX 21 north-east of Girvan above the Water of Assel. Troweir Hill is a small but cleanly prominent summit on the Carrick coastal hinterland. A 295.6 m top in the galloway.

From the minor road near Pinclanty, follow farm tracks south before climbing through old forestry plantings onto the open top. The trig sits among heather and rock — about 2 hours round trip.

Terrain

Estate tracks and forest breaks lead onto rough heather and grass. The going underfoot is firm in dry conditions.

In winter

Coastal Carrick weather keeps Troweir snow-free in most winters. Atlantic winds are the principal concern on the exposed top.
