Marilyn · skye
Mullach na Carn
The name means 'summit' in Gaelic. Only 396m tall but with enough prominence to stand alone on the Isle of Skye. This is the beauty of Marilyns — height is not everything when you have a genuine summit.
Gaelic: “summit, top” · Pronunciation: mull-ach

Standard route
Standard route
A short, accessible walk with views to the Cuillin Ridge from the approach slopes to the 396m summit. The low altitude and gentle gradients make this achievable in 1-3 hours.
Terrain
Skye terrain: basalt columns, peat bog and rough grass. More demanding than mainland hills of similar height.
In winter
Skye winters are wet and windy rather than deeply snowy. Ice forms on steep ground after rain. The volcanic rock becomes treacherous when wet-frozen.
