Standard route
heather moorland 60% · grass slopes 30% · rocky summit 10%
From the minor road south of Moniaive, take farm tracks up through Bogrie steading and onto the open hill. The summit is reached in two hours; the line is largely pathless but the ground is forgiving.
Terrain
Pastoral lower ground with bracken in summer, opening onto short heather and rough grass on the rounded crown.
In winter
Frequently bypassed by snow, this is good ground for shoulder-season days. Stiles and gates can ice up, so a shorter-than-usual walking pole helps on stiles.
