Marilyn · islands
Ben Meabost
The name means 'peak' in Gaelic. Only 345m tall but with enough prominence to stand alone in the shadow of the Cuillin on Skye. This is the beauty of Marilyns — height is not everything when you have a genuine summit.
Gaelic: “mountain, peak” · Pronunciation: ben

Standard route
A short, accessible walk across machair grassland and rocky coastline to the 345m summit. The low altitude and gentle gradients make this achievable in 1-3 hours.
Terrain
Mixed island landscape with coastal rock, peat and grass. The sea is visible from most points on the walk.
In winter
Island winters are mild but stormy. Snow is rare at low levels. The main winter challenge is short daylight and frequent gales.
