Our take

The Fisherfield Meanach is for the people who find Shenavall too busy. If you want to bag A' Mhaighdean — the most remote Munro — this is where you sleep. Expect to see nobody.

Getting there

Multiple approaches — all long. From Poolewe via Carnmore (14km, 5 hours). From Dundonnell via Shenavall and over the hills (12km, 4.5 hours). Navigation essential.

Nearest parking: Poolewe or Dundonnell

What to expect inside

Small MBA bothy in fair condition with a fireplace. Space for 4. The extreme remoteness means you may have it entirely to yourself.

Nearby hills & attractions

A' Mhaighdean (967m) — Scotland's most remote Munro — and Ruadh Stac Mor (919m) are nearby. The Fisherfield Six round is the ultimate multi-Munro challenge.

When to visit

Strictly a summer bothy (June–September). The approach crosses trackless wilderness. River crossings can be impassable in spate.
