Our take
Gleann na Muice is the back door to Fisherfield. If Shenavall is busy — and it often is on summer weekends — push deeper. The extra effort buys solitude.
Getting there
From Dundonnell, follow the path south past Shenavall then continue west. Long, rough approach. Allow 4–5 hours.
Nearest parking: Dundonnell on the A832
What to expect inside
Small MBA bothy in fair condition with a fireplace. Space for 4. The extreme remoteness is the defining characteristic.
Nearby hills & attractions
The Fisherfield Six Munros. Shenavall bothy is to the northeast. Slioch (981m) rises above Loch Maree to the south.
When to visit
Strictly summer (June–September). Multiple river crossings on the approach. Navigation essential in this trackless landscape.
