Mochrum Fell
Mochrum Fell tops out at 317m on the NX-grid moors above Corsock, well within the Stewartry. The little summit looks out over a chain of small lochans towards the Galloway Hills proper.

heather moorland 65% · rough grassland 25% · boggy ground 10%
From Corsock village take farm tracks past Mochrum farm and cut up onto open hillside. An hour and a half to two hours suffices for a relaxed return walk.
Terrain
Pasture, juniper scrub and short heather make up the route, with a small rocky tor at the top providing the cairn site.
In winter
Rarely under snow, the hill is an excellent low-key winter outing. Frozen ground around the lochans is normally firm enough for safe walking.
