Standard route

A short, accessible walk through the surprisingly wild landscape of southwest Scotland to the 317m summit. The low altitude and gentle gradients make this achievable in 1-3 hours.

Terrain

Galloway terrain — a mix of forestry, moorland and granite. Rougher and wilder than the Borders to the east.

In winter

Gentle winter conditions in Galloway. The southwestern position means warmer temperatures than the Highlands. Good paths remain usable year-round.
