Our take
If Peanmeanach is full — and on summer weekends it often is — walk uphill to the upper shelter. Less polished, fewer people, same views.
Getting there
Follow the Peanmeanach approach then continue uphill past the main bothy. Allow 1.5–2 hours.
Nearest parking: Polnish on the A830
What to expect inside
Small MBA shelter in fair condition. Space for 4. Less well-appointed than the famous lower bothy.
Nearby hills & attractions
Ardnish Peninsula coastline. Views to Eigg, Rum and Skye. The lower Peanmeanach bothy is nearby.
When to visit
Same season as Peanmeanach — best April–October. Less busy than the lower bothy.
