Our take
Gleann Bianasdail is where Scotland meets the deep Atlantic. The sea stacks at Mangersta are world-class climbing venues and visual spectacles. The bothy is basic but the coastline is unforgettable.
Getting there
From Mangersta on the southwest coast of Lewis, follow rough paths south along the coast. Allow 1.5 hours.

Small MBA bothy in fair condition with a fireplace. Space for 4. The coastal setting is extraordinarily dramatic.
Nearby hills & attractions
The Mangersta sea stacks are among the most dramatic coastal features in Scotland. The Flannan Isles are visible offshore. Lewis has Callanish standing stones.
When to visit
CalMac ferry to Stornoway from Ullapool. Best May–September. The Atlantic exposure means weather is unpredictable. Winter storms are ferocious.
