Caolasnacon is the WHW bothy that most walkers don't know about. Take a rest day from the trail, walk along the loch shore, light a fire, watch the Mamores change colour at sunset.

From the B863 near Kinlochleven, follow the shore path west. Allow 1 hour on easy terrain.

Small MBA bothy in fair condition with a fireplace. Space for 4. The loch-side setting with Mamore views is pleasant.

West Highland Way passes through Kinlochleven. The Mamores ridge is directly across the loch. The Ice Factor climbing wall in Kinlochleven.

When to visit

Accessible year-round. Kinlochleven provides full resupply. A natural rest day shelter for WHW walkers.
